IP Networking, R & S Architect

Reports To: PROJECT MANAGER

Working Hours: Normal business hours, extra support as needed            

Work Location: Hybrid on-site role, must be based in Dallas, TX, DFW Metroplex

Pay: $65 to $70 p/h, paid on 1099

Status: Any US work authorization

Special Requirement: CCIE or other Data Center Certification, or equivalent, is required

Summary/Objective:

The IP Networking Solutions Architect will resolve network design issues at Toyota North America HQ, in Plano TX. In this role, you will focus on these areas:

  • Route Switch – Work with R&S BCS NCE & TMNA LAN/WAN team to make sure services are considered for all enterprise architectures within Cisco Towers and end customer services that may be provided through other vendor solutions
  • Wireless – Work with Wireless BCS NCE team, TMNA Wireless team and the Toyota Business to confirm wireless and LAN solutions integrate and provide cross platform validation
  • ACI/Data Center – Work with TMNA DC team and Lead BCS ACI engineer for end-to-end design considerations based on knowledge of Toyota applications.
  • Security – Work with Security BCS NCE for ISE security services at TMNA, Main daily tasks will be if end user/customers escalations come in and coordinating 3rd party services within Toyota to help our teams.
  • SDA – 2 of the 12 US factories have moved to SDA and SDA will be a focus for TMNA moving forward.
  • IOT – Position the user of Cisco Industrial Ethernet devices and guidance on best practices. Define requirements from Toyota IS and Shop Operations (OT) teams

Essential Functions:

  • Liaise with the following Toyota Business Units
    • Production Engineering
    • Corporate
    • Parts Distribution
    • Application modernization units
  • Travel to Toyota production facilities for business input and data collections to provide for appropriate design and validation
  • Integrate solutions with Toyota Motor Corporation strategic initiatives for a global integrated network
  • Weekly leadership meetings with Cisco, Toyota, and business partners
  • Cisco Internal meetings to provide sales and services team insight into Toyota business needs to align initiatives and design leadership

Governance:

  • Architect will have to liaise with BCS PM on a weekly basis to report the activities he/she is engaged in, for weekly reporting back to customer.
  • Architect will be responsible for monthly Architecture Review meeting/reports
  • Architect will also own content for QBRs and present the 90-day outlook as much as major accomplishment in the past 90 days.
  • Governance

Work Environment/Physical Demands:

  • Will work on site in Plano, TX; may work remotely with authorization
  • Will travel as needed to various US client locations
  • Willing to potentially work extra hours and travel on short notice
  • Ability to work under aggressive project timelines

Required Education / Experience and Competencies:

  • Requires BSCS / BE / BTech degree or equivalent 8+ years of related experience in Data Center support, preferably working with a service provider
  • CCIE certification in Data Center, Routing Switching, or equivalent is required
  • Good technical knowledge of the Cisco ACI, SDN Data Center and its components: applications, storage, network, server and projects surrounding their planning, design, implementation, operation, and optimization
  • Expert level experience with Cisco’s Data Center Product Line: ACI, Nexus Products (N7K, N5k, N2k, N1kV), Catalyst products (95xx, 65xx, 49xx switches) and UCS/Virtualization
  • Knowledge of virtualization tools and concepts.
  • Architectural knowledge of Three-Tiered application environments.
  • Experienced familiarity with cloud computing concepts including virtualization, web services API's, elastic infrastructure, distributed data storage (database, block, object), multi-tenancy, and metered usage patterns.
  • Storage technologies: file (NAS), block (SAN), object storage, transport (FCoE, iSCSI, etc), replication, backup, and performance. Programmatic control of infrastructure elements (data model, API), integration frameworks and technologies (SP-style).
  • Proven experience and advanced knowledge in the following major areas of Service Provider environments: Routing & Switching Platforms and Datacenter Platforms, with familiarity of a number of their software and advanced features
  • Strong Experience and knowledge in the Enterprise and Service Provider environments with expert level of internetworking and solution troubleshooting in these complex environment
  • Fluent in English
