Sr. System Administrator

GDH has partnered with a local Oil & Gas company to offer a Senior System Admin position in Oklahoma City.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for maintaining Company's technical infrastructure throughout the enterprise, maximizing the performance of such infrastructure, and anticipating/preventing/resolving problems regarding such systems.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work is performed primarily in an office environment requiring the use of a computer and sitting for long periods, may include some travel, primarily local.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Provide technical support for all IT infrastructure to include but not be limited to servers (physical & virtual), desktops/laptops/tablets, Active Directory, network communications, firewalls, phone systems, email, and wireless equipment.

  1. Ensure that appropriate security measures are in place and operating effectively to protect the integrity and operations of the network and technology infrastructure.

  1. Provide technical support for the backup/recovery system. Maintain the IT disaster recovery plan and conduct periodic testing of the plan to include the restoration of selected applications.

  1. Ensure all support standards, processes, and procedures are documented and current. Maintain and ensure compliance with all IT standards, processes and procedures.

  1. Provide leadership and manage projects relating to Company's technology infrastructure including networks, servers, operating systems, communication systems, messaging, firewalls, and all desktop/laptop computer equipment.

  1. Manage and participate in after-hours technical support as necessary.

  1. Provide effective and value-added participation in the planning and design of projects related to the technical infrastructure, and to continuously maximize the performance of such systems in a cost-effective manner while mitigating risks to the company such as de-support of hardware/software, significant downtime, unacceptable system performance, security threats, etc.

  1. Provide the CIO with complete, timely, and accurate communication regarding the status of all projects and work related to areas of responsibility.

  1. Approach all support issues with a positive problem-solving attitude. Apply technical analysis with creative thinking to identify solution alternatives to support issues. Provide proactive thoughts and ideas to improve the computing environment in a cost-effective manner.

  1. Encourage and demonstrate a positive, friendly, helpful, and supportive environment to all customers of the IT department.

  1. Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Training:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Management Information Systems or equivalent experience. Minimum of 8 years providing technical IT infrastructure support.

Licensing and Certification:

Microsoft systems certification and Cisco networking certification is preferable.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent critical thinking skills

  • Ability to organize and complete large projects

  • Ability to carry-out strategies and objectives

  • Thorough knowledge of systems and software

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
